Fished down Bayou Neuf a late start because it looked as though it was going to rain early. Caught a few nice trout on purple and chartreuse deadly dudley's in 8 feet of water mid way to the bottom. We would have done better had we left early but I'll get at them again this permitting.

Tried to fish the pipeline canals off of Lake Boudreaux but the weather was overcast and cold...the fish never turned on and the trip was quite a cold disappointment. I'll try to fish this weekend but we have some Mardi Gras obligations to attend to.

Tried to go fishing on Saturday but the water was low and the winds were 15-20 out of the North...watched the Pro Bowl instead.

Tried to fish this afternoon but the wind is 20-25 WNW which has run out all of the water. Every weekend this year is either freezing or windy....hopefully better tomorrow!

We woke up to strong winds and didn't leave to go out until 9 am. By then the winds were over 15 MPH and catching trout was nearly impossible...every cove and island we tucked behind had numerous other boats trying to do the same thing and the places that had no boats had dirty water. We ended the day eating at Coco Marina with no fish. Going to try again tomorrow for inshore trout and redfish.

The Trout are biting ... this weekend the tide was slack but even that couldn't stop the trout bite. I did not have the best weekend, but I did see many people who were catching limits of fish. We had some quality trout! There are a lot of school trout in Lake Pelto and on the coastline near Bay St. Elaine, but there are bigger trout on the north side of Last Island. I haven't fished the south side of the island b/c I don't think that will be really hot for another few weeks.

I left the camp at 1:30 and went to the Sulphur Mine right at high tide. I quickly picked up 18 trout and got back to the camp...I forgot the camera and since I was by myself I don't know how I would have taken any good pics. The trout were nice size and very active. Caught all fish on LSU Bayou Chub and the fish stayed biting until the water got dirty and then it shut down. I didn't fish Sunday since I had to drive back to BR and high tide was in the afternoon...I hope to have a long weekend of fishing this coming Memorial Day Weekend.
Memorial Day Weekend
Thursday, May 31, 2007 - 6:05:48 AM
The wind has been ridiculous for the last few weeks. From what I hear the trout that won the Oilmen's Rodeo was only 4 pounds this past weekend. Needless to say, we did not fish for trout this past weekend, however, the redfish bite was on! Due to the high water that existed this weekend the redfish were all over the marsh. Hopefully the wind will lay down next weekend so we can get out to fish for trout.

Great Speck fishing Saturday morning...the Sulphur Mine was loaded up. I caught my limit by 9 am on live shrimp, I also caught a 3lb trout at the horseshoe reef but the reef never really got hot for me! The reds are still thick in the marsh...caught 8 reds and a few drum in the marsh between Lake Robinson and Lake Boudreaux as well as on the East side of Bayou Terrebonne. Saturday the wind was out of the East but layed down for a bit in the morning, but on our afternoon fishing trip it started to pick up and shifted out of the West. Sunday the wind was really blowing and made getting out difficult.

Speck fishing is still strong...we caught around 140 trout this weekend usually by 8:00 in the morning, the biggest coming from the Sulphur Mine and the most coming from the Gulf near Whiskey Pass. The wind was light and the air was hot!

Saturday morning had East Southeast winds 5 to 10 and proved to be a good morning to be on the water. We started at the bait boat getting some live shrimp followed by our first stop at the Sulphur Mine where we picked up a few really nice trout. We then went to the Horseshoe Reef around 7:15 where we trolled around and picked up probably another 10 trout. After that, we travelled to the corner of Whiskey Pass and the Gulf of Mexico where we fished the sand bars...the water was cloudy and had a good chop to it but we managed to pick up a few fish. We finished the day at the platform just to the Northwest of Calliou Boca in Calliou Bay where we all had a good time pulling in some beautiful trout in the corners of the platform where the shady spots are.
Friday Night and Saturday Morning
Monday, June 25, 2007 - 5:45:50 AM
Friday night we went to the Sulphur Mine for a quick trip where we picked up 20 trout on live shrimp. Saturday morning we went back to the Sulphur Mine where we picked up another 15 or so trout, 4 of which were over 3 lbs. then we went to Wilson Pass platform where we finished off the day with another 30 or so trout...not a bad weekend! Didn't take any pics this weekend but should have some good pics next week as we are supposed to be going offshore on Saturday.
Weekend Fishing
Tuesday, July 3, 2007 - 9:35:13 AM
Friday my wife and I picked up 35 trout by 10am with one over 4.8 lbs at Pass Wilson platform on live shrimp. Saturday myself and a group of men went offshore to do some snapper fishing as well as a little trolling. The snapper bite was pretty good in Ship Shoal 209...we caught our limit in no time. We headed to a platform to get some hardtails and then proceeded to Eugene Bank to pull some lines. Within 10 minutes or so we had what appeared to be a marlin following one of the baits...he hit the hardtail, broke the line from the outrigger but didn't take the hook! We then began driftfishing for tuna, but all we got where a couple of AJ's. All in all a great weekend!

This was the first bad weekend in a while...we only picked up 10 trout Saturday morning, but I consider myself lucky to have picked up that. The wind was blowing strong out of the west and Lake Pelto was nothing but white caps. The girls dropped one or two fish at the boat and we had a couple of sheephead...and we could have picked up a few more trout had we gotten out there a bit earlier. We'll try again next weekend!

Bad weekend on the water. The wind picked up and the weathermen sure missed the forecast. Tried to fish inshore for trout but had little success, should have gone to the beach to fish with croakers but the water was too rough.

Great weekend of fishing! We caught 100 trout on Saturday and 50 trout on Sunday with the majority caught at Ship Shoal 45 "Helis" on Saturday and Pass Wilson on Sunday. All fish were caught on croaker under a cork about 6 feet deep.

We have been catching fish every weekend, I just haven't been posting reports. The fish are offshore mainly and are still biting on live bait if you can find it. It is best to catch your fish as early as possible because the temps are getting high very quickly. I am expecting a slow down on the bite over the next couple of weeks or so and then the trout ought to start moving back in.

We traveled to the end of the road in Dularge to put the boat in and fished Lake Mechant under the birds. We fished with minnows under a cork about 16-20 inches deep and caught over a hundred trout, unfortunately we could only keep 35 of them do to their lack of length! Lots of fun...the lake is stacked with school trout!
